Rudraksha Seed

No single tree is as rich with scriptural references, spiritual myths and legends as the Rudraksha. Its beads have long been sought for their supposed medicinal and magical properties and this highly spiritual bead is a true treasure trove of benefits. The word Rudraksha is derived from the words Rudra (Shiva) and aksha (eyes) – it is said that once, when Lord Shiva went into meditation for a long time for the well-being of all living beings, upon waking from this state and opening his eyes, tears immediately fell from his eyes onto the ground.  When they reached the ground, they took the form of Rudraksha seeds, from which the Rudraksha trees grow.

Fossil Coral is both a gemstone and a fossil. These beads range from white over beige to yellow tan coloured beads, often with beautiful patterning, and originate in Indonesia. Fossil coral is a natural gemstone that is created when prehistoric coral is gradually replaced with agate. Corals are marine animals, and it is their skeletons that are fossilised and preserved. The proper name for fossil coral is “agatized coral” or “agatized fossil coral.” Agate, with its silicon dioxide composition (SiO₂), is a variety of naturally occurring chalcedony—or microcrystalline quartz—rather than a type of coral. For this reason, fossil coral should not be mistaken for endangered or protected reef coral or precious coral. Fossil coral is also much harder than precious coral. Most agatized fossil coral exhibits a dull to waxy lustre and interesting skeletal-like ancient coral patterns, most often appearing in flower shapes.
