Zhanguo Red Agate in particular

Zhanguo (Warring States) Red Agate is a rare and exquisite natural gemstone sourced from Hebei province in China. Red Agate of the Warring States Period refers to a kind of red agate which was mined in Beipiao of Liaoning Province and Xuanhua of Hebei Province in recent years. It is similar to some agate ornaments unearthed during the Warring States Period, which was called Red-Jade in the Pre-Qin Period, and now this agate is called the Warring States Red Agate. Characterized by its striking red-orange hues and intricate patterns, this stone exudes elegance and charm.

As far as physical benefits are concerned, Zhanguo Red Agate is revered for its ability to enhance blood circulation and promote better blood flow and heart health. It is also known to help with insomnia and restless sleep, making sleep deep and rejuvenating again. (Agates in general are also known to help with sleepwalking, see below.) Some traditions suggest it can benefit the stomach, intestines, and liver, helping with detoxification and relieving constipation. On top of that, Red agate is thought to help soothe pain associated with burns, nerve pain, and rheumatic conditions.

Zhanguo Red Agate also promotes positive thinking. It serves as a powerful talisman for fostering self-esteem and self-image, instilling a sense of confidence and empowerment in the wearer. It helps to eliminate fears and replace them with inner strength and the courage to face challenges. The calming properties of red agate are said to reduce anxiety and stress, fostering a sense of peace and self-acceptance. Moreover, it is thought to improve critical thinking and focus, which can be helpful for students and professionals. On top of that, red agate can bring new ideas and enhance creative potential.

It is also thought to bring good luck, wealth, and prosperity, helping to create a positive flow of energy for business and career goals. It protects against negative energy / Qi, is often used to ward off bad luck and to revitalise the surroundings. It serves as a symbol of courage and inner strength and was traditionally used by warriors as a protective talisman to bring courage and safety.

This rare Chinese agate is prized for its beauty and historical significance, often used in jewellery or as a home Feng Shui item (to use it according to Feng Shui principles, place it in the home, particularly in the love and marriage sector (southwest), to bring positive energy and heal the environment).

Agates in general

Agate is the name given to numerous varieties of banded Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. Its name comes from the Achetes River in Sicily, where Agates were first found. Usually banded in layers, or stripes, some varieties have “eye” markings, or specks of colour, some have fossilized inclusions, and others are solid. Called the earth rainbow, the concentric bands of Agate form in nearly every colour the earth can produce, including a colourless form.

Historically, Agate has been discovered with the artifacts of Neolithic people, and was used as healing amulets and ornamentation dating back to Babylon. Its medicinal uses continued through the ancient Greek and Egyptian civilizations, and spread throughout Africa and the Middle East into Russia.

Metaphysically, Agate has a lower intensity and vibrates to a slower frequency than other stones, but is highly regarded as a stabilizing and strengthening influence. The layered bands of microscopic quartz in Agate may appear delicate, but they are actually very strong. Agate is excellent for balancing emotional, physical and intellectual energy, and in harmonizing yin & yang, the positive & negative forces of the universe.

The world of Agates is a fascinating and ever evolving place. There are hundreds, if not thousands of types of agates, and they are found all around the world. They bring a wonder and magic to the planet with their swirls of colour bands.

All agates promote inner stability, composure, and maturity. Their warm, protective properties encourage security and self-confidence. Agates are a great crystal to use during pregnancy. Agates also help new mothers avoid the “baby blues” sometimes experienced after giving birth, and an Agate jewel worn between the breasts encourages lactation. Their protective properties also make them useful protection amulets when traveling, and they are said to prevent accidents.

Agate stops the burning desires, both for things we do not need and for others, which is why it’s e.g. often regarded as a stone that promotes marital fidelity. It assists those juggling commitments or multiple jobs; it helps writers express ideas in marketable form; and it helps young children learn to walk and not fall as they get older.

Agate is beneficial in self-analysis and uncovering hidden circumstances that might interfere with well-being. It promotes self-acceptance and confidence, encouraging the speaking of one’s own truth. Agate overcomes negativity and bitterness of the heart, by healing anger, fostering love, and lending the courage to start over. It is useful for any kind of trauma.

Agate enhances mental function by improving concentration, perception, and analytical abilities. Agate encourages a sense of reality and pragmatic thinking. Agates with regular designs soothe those who desire peace and harmony, while those with irregular designs can stimulate action and important decision making.

Physical health-wise, all agates share various characteristics: Placed on the abdomen, Agates stimulate the digestive system and relieve gastritis. They are also beneficial for the eyes, for the hollow organs (such as the stomach, uterus, intestines, bladder, etc.), and they help heal skin disorders and itching due to insect bites. Agates are also helpful to the heart and blood vessels. Wearing an Agate in the middle of the chest strengthens the cardiac muscle, and heals emotional disharmony that prevents acceptance of love. A cold Agate placed on the forehead is generally effective in curing fever. (If the fever returns, however, consult a doctor.) Agate may also reduce the symptoms of epilepsy, and for some people guards against sleepwalking.

Agate stabilizes the aura, eliminating and transforming negative energies. Its cleansing effect is powerful at all levels.

Agate raises awareness and links into the collective consciousness of the Oneness of life. It encourages quiet contemplation of one’s life experiences that lead to spiritual growth and inner stability. Agates provide a wide variety of crystal formations conducive for meditation focus. The intricate movements within the crystal encourage a calm, relaxing state and open the mind to higher thought and inner truths.
