Description
Incredible entirely handwoven pure pashmina shawl with an absolutely exquisite decorative scene, from very warm Cashmere wool from the Kashmir Valley. Handloomed. The most stunning piece I have collected, almost museum-worthy, as this has taken 1 year out of a Kashmiri weaver’s life to make. 21 different thread colours are used in this “woven painting”.
The exquisiteness here doesn’t lie in the thinness of the weave and the craftsmanship to weave the wool in such a way, nor in the intricate embroidery of the border, but in the truly unbelievable detail in the decoration. This is all entirely handwoven with an amazing eye for detail — it took a full 12 months to weave this piece – and to do it in mirror image too on the other side, in a different colour pattern … (The shawl is folded in half for most pictures but I’ve included pictures from both sides — one side has a lot of blue around the dome, the other side pink).
Measurements: 212cm x 102cm. Weight: 375 gram. This one is a little thicker than the other ones on the shop, but mind-blowingly beautiful in the handwoven decorations…
